"History just changed," James replied through gritted teeth. He felt sick to his stomach, horror creeping through him. "He's not going on that mission, which means I don't lose the arm. Which means..."
He stopped, and frowned. Other than the arm, he didn't feel any different than he had a moment before. He glanced down at his right hand, then turned and punched the nearest tree, hard. Bark cracked and wood split; the tree didn't fall, but it was certainly damaged.
"I'm still Enhanced," he realized, closing and opening both fists. "I don't lose the arm, but I'm still... that makes no sense."
