It had been to save her, too, of course. But if Len hadn't had a sister, he'd still have wanted to do what he'd done - and it had sounded like James was saying that it wasn't right for him to change his past and prevent HYDRA from turning him into a weapon, since it was only to protect himself.
"And I've got no right to try to say that you can't save yourself," Len agreed quietly. "But I also don't think that you don't have the right to save yourself, even if that's the only person you're saving. If you feel the pain is worth it, that's fine... but it seems to me that staying with me can't be that good. You're gonna swell my ego."
